KEVIN KIM

Kevin Kim uses the camera as a tool to transform the raw emotions of people and nature into visual narratives. He began his photographic journey by documenting sports games as an observer but soon discovered the unique connection that forms when engaging with players through his lens. He found great joy in capturing decisive moments shared with them. Now, he has expanded his storytelling by experimenting with staged photography, employing various lighting and exposure techniques. His goal is to invite viewers into his narrative, allowing them to observe, engage, and derive their own interpretations from the scenes he captures and creates.

• Partnered with non-profit organizations such as Volleyball BC, DD Nation (Sports Media), and local sports teams, raised money to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society by providing photos and video services

• Coordinated multiple grads events, optimized school community resources to secure funding, and strengthened connections between students, staff, and parents

Volunteer Photographer&Videographer/Supporter, Ki-Low-Na Friendship: First Nations Society in Kelowna (2023–Present)

• Photographed in Sisters in Spirit, Turtle Island Festival, and Truth and Reconciliation Day, spread awareness and helped the school community understand the Indigenous Peoples Community

• Promoted specifically student voices by organizing Arts for Africa, fundraised to build libraries in Uganda, managed the Human of OKM Instagram, highlighted the student body with their personal stories

• Produced the 150-page yearbook with a staff of 30 students, organized the photo dates, created themes, communicated with clubs’s leaders, and documented various events

• Led Clarinets in six concerts throughout the Penticton, Vernon, and Kelowna annually, volunteered for Symphony Time for the youngest music lovers aged 2–5

• Addressed “Student’s Thought on Technology and Learning” in front of over 250 participants and shared the experiences at OKM as an initiative and authentic student

• Collected 40 boxes of food drives, raised $480 with bake sales for Ukraine, raised $550 with popcorn sales for Native Women’s Fund of Canada, ran a clean-up campaign and organized making Christmas cards for Seniors

1st Clarinet player/Section Leader, OKM Concert Band & Jazz Band (2021–23)

• Helped out and shared knowledge with fellow clarinet players, and elevated the level of playing in the clarinet section and the entire band

• Made videos by playing the violin during the pandemic seasonally, performed the violin and the clarinet in person, and celebrated seniors’ birthdays
